
B.Sc. Nursing
B.Sc. in Nursing is an undergraduate course that all medical aspirants can pursue in different B.Sc. Nursing colleges in India. The course, in India, is offered as a 4-year undergraduate programme for all students who have cleared class 12th from the stream of science. The course can be availed at any recognised institute or University, with the apt recognition from the authorised body.

As per the Indian Nursing Council, the course is offered under the choice-based credit system (CBCS). The programme will be specifically designed by the college or university that will offer the programme but all educational institutions will have to abide by the regulations specified by INC. As per the guidelines, the students will pursue foundational, core and elective courses

​The programme has been designed to train the students in generalistic nursing practices. Students will be trained and educated on the processes of wellness, illness & disease management, health promotion along with the taking of the dying as part of becoming a nurse. The programme focuses on mastering the various competencies of the field.
PROGRAMME LEVEL & COURSE DURATION
Bachelor’s degree with 4 Years Duration.
ELIGILIBILITY
The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on 31st December of the year in which admission is sought.
The candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with Science (Physics, Chemistry & Biology) from CHSE, Odisha or any other Board or Council or University equivalent thereof.

The candidates must have passed 10+2 examination in Science (Physics, Chemistry & Biology) conducted by National Institute of Open School with 45% marks are also eligible to apply.

The candidates must have passed in the subject of PCB & English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 45% marks taken together in PCB at the qualifying examination i.e. (10+2). Candidate's belonging to SC/ST, the marks obtained in PCB taken together in qualifying examination be 40% instead of 45 % as stated above. English is a compulsory subject in 10+2 for being eligible for admission to B.Sc. Nursing Course.

The candidates must have passed minimum M.E standard Odia. (Only for Govt. Institutions & 85% Govt. quota seats in Private Institutions).

The candidates must be a domicile / permanent resident / native of Odisha but currently residing outside Odisha. (Only for Govt. Institutions & 85% Govt. quota seats in Private Institutions).

Both female / male candidates) are eligible to apply. (Only 10% reservation for male candidates out of total seats).
​
Student shall be medically fit for the course.

The four-year undergraduate course in Nursing has been designed to completely train and qualify the students to deal with various aspects with utmost professionalism and care.

B.Sc. in Nursing will train and produce nurses with the ability to critically think and be clear while also being caring, well-disciplined and assertive, responding to the dynamic needs of the industry, the healthcare delivery system as well as the society.

The programme will train the students to take up decisions on their own in different nursing situations, all within the scope of the field. It will also train them to protect the rights of the patients and groups included.

The programme will further train the students to take up research initiatives in Nursing as well as apply an evidence-based form of practice.

The Nursing industry has been growing rapidly and the career opportunities in the field have been growing side by side. In India, students who are successfully able to clear all subjects under the B.Sc Nursing programme, are eligible for a career in the field of nursing. However, pursuing a career is not the only way forward, as graduates will also be able to pursue higher education and expand their career options as well.
